Your Darkness is Beautiful: Autumn Equinox & the Harvest Moon.

*Eleditor’s note: Astrology isn’t a religion. We’re not sure it’s a science, either. It’s magic, maybe. But, as with feng shui, say, things affect things. So as long as we don’t go blaming our problems on the stars, as long as we assume responsibility for our own actions…well, hell, a little auspicious coincidence and applicable wisdom can’t hurt. And so, with that grain of salt…enjoy!

“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.” ~ Edgar Allan Poe

The Autumn Equinox takes place on September 23, leading to the Full Harvest Moon, September 27, 2015.

We are magic and our darkness is the way into the light.

Standing at the edge of the precipice of life, we wonder what steps to take. The ground beneath shakes with every move we make.

Responding to this sacred energy inside, the enchanted forest breathes us in, the sky opens to receive your cry, rain falls in response to our thirst.

The sun retreats and gives space to the moon who will guide us on your journey.

Welcome to the Autumn Equinox and the Harvest Moon.

We will no longer be able to hold back our dreams, the longings of our souls.

What brews dark and ancient within us will spill out onto the tapestry of life.

Chaos will be our new name…after all, there is always an earthquake before new mountains are formed.

Fall, my lovely, into all that is mysterious, all that is dark, all that begs for the light.

Sensual, erotic, ecstatic, pained…our body rises to the call of the Goddess, awakening with each beat of our heart.

Dare to bare all that cannot be explained about us. Dare to leave the harvest King breathless and reaching for your naked hunger.

Dare to live a life less ordinary. Dare to shake convention from our bones.

You’re a woman for a rare type of man.

One who can hold your wicked sins in his hands and keep your secrets until the end of time.

One who will take your body and with his tongue, trace the witchery that runs within your veins.

The equinox is the time when night conquers the day and you sink deep into the well of your intentions.

Sink, sink…deeper you go, under the water, your breath suspended, your lungs filled with the oxygen of what you wrote so long ago upon the stars.

Deeper still, into the midnight of what scares you most, sink, my dear, let yourself drown.

To what are you drowning, to what shall you die?

I’ve thrown the runes, I’ve scattered the cards—the future is now so clear.

You will die to fear.

You will die to guilt.

You will die to resentment.

You will die to anger and bleeding wounds.

Your darkness is so beautiful that light bows down to you.

Dream your dreams, my Equinox Queen. Light your candles, slip on your mystic’s gown. Greet the harvest moon.

Look, she stands there, Luna, heavy, pregnant, low over the horizon. The ocean shimmers with her incandescent light, dolphins jumping, aching for her touch.

Day will now be shorter, night will win the war, your hands will fill with harvest; you will reap what you have sown.

Persephone floats a vessel taking her to the Underworld. Hades, her King awaits her return.

You are like her, unafraid, anxious to greet the night. You dig among the roots of the Tree of Life, searching for the rich soil that will incubate your winter sleep.

You have swept the walkway that leads to your front door, and have thrown away what no longer serves your soul. You’ve left morsels of sweets for the fairies by the window; they’ll weave spells and guard your treasures while you peacefully slumber.

But it’s not quite time yet to close your eyes. While the harvest moon shines you will count on your fingers the months that have passed and what riches are yours to savor.

On diaphanous wings she flies to your side, Selene, Artemis, Hecate, or Phoebe…whatever you name her, she is your teacher and guide.

Spread yourself onto the Eastern sky.

May the stars be your eyes and the midnight sky the dress that you wear for your wedding with what is yet to come.

Be ready, for you have asked and you shall receive. We have read the tea leaves, we have consulted the dragon in the bowels of the earth and nothing stands in your way. You have drank my potions, you have taken my advice; it’s now or never—live your best life.

You are the mistress of your own destiny. You are the queen of your heart’s domain. You are the witch who casts her own spells, only you can manifest the path that will lead you home.

On this Equinox, this leveling of time, may you submit to your darkness and see how beautiful you are.
