Last February, I went through a breakup.
I needed an outlet for the confusion, the sadness, the low self-esteem. I needed to dispel the notion that there was something wrong with me, that I was somehow unloveable. I needed something to get me out of bed. I needed a release for the pent-up frustration.
My friends kept on suggesting exercise. “Exercise releases oxytocin,” I would hear incessantly.
I’ve always loved walking, but I was too heartbroken to leave the house. To see all the places we used to go together. Finally, after having enough energy to get out of bed, I came across a 30-Day Yoga Challenge on YouTube.
“This could work for me,” I thought to myself.
I had recently started learning about the chakras. “When you strengthen the core, you strengthen your core” became my mantra.
Yoga became my new self-care ritual. As I embarked upon this 30-Day Yoga Challenge, I felt myself becoming stronger—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I felt myself becoming a better person with each breath, with each asana.
Yoga helped me cultivate a sense of self-love that I could not have gotten from any lover.
You too can start your self-care practice and begin the 30-Day Yoga Challenge today.
