Teach me how to hold you,
and I’ll meet you with the tenderest touch.
Teach me how to soothe you,
and I’ll bring you what your darkest days need.
Teach me how to see you,
and I’ll let your light be seen.
Teach me how to read your eyes,
so I can see what you see to help our worlds collide.
Teach me kindness,
for the days when my own pain is too much.
Teach me how to feel again, for I’m tired of the numbness.
For I’m not you, and you are not me. But in sync, we complement each others strengths, support each other through weaknesses, and support and light flames of fire.
For I’m the half to your whole, but not your everything. We are each others and we are meant to shine brightly.
But as much as you need me, I need you. I can only meet you halfway. I cannot fill you with love and empty myself in process. I need your light, your love and we can walk forward like this, hand in hand.
We are souls and bodies, in an equitable universe, meant for connection.
Teach me how to meet you there, in the parting of our fields, and we’ll make it work.
