All subsequent First Ladies—or First Husbands—have a hard act to follow when they step into Michelle Obama’s shoes.
Earlier this week, she once again showed her class when she stayed out of the plagiarism scandal involving Melania Trump’s RNC speech. And last night she reminded us of how cool and fun she is too when she was featured in the latest Carpool Karaoke with James Corden.
The First Lady car-danced her way around the grounds of the White House while belting out Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours and Beyonce’s Single Ladies.
Rocking out in the car is something that the FLOTUS has missed and she admitted to looking forward to returning to such simple pleasures at the end of Obama’s presidency.
In the meantime, however, she still has important work to do and she took the opportunity to spread awareness of the Let Girls Learn campaign and reminded us all how important it is that girls around the world are given the opportunity for an education.
“My message for kids here [in the US] is don’t take your education for granted. There are girls around the world who would die to get the education you have, they would do anything, they would move mountains.”
As they belted out the campaign’s girl power anthem, This is for my Girls, Missy Elliot made a surprise guest appearance in the back seat—which led to a fun follow up of all three singing Get Ur Freak On.
