If you’ve been raped, or love someone who has, Evan Rachel Wood has some brave words of comfort for you.

It takes bravery to be kind, to give others a voice, to put yourself out there given this toxic social media bullying climate in this interesting country of ours.

Evan Rachel Wood reveals in emotional letter that she was raped. (edition.cnn.com)

The actress, who came out as bisexual in 2011, said in the original interview that she had been raped “by a significant other while we were together and on a separate occasion, by the owner of a bar.”

A redditor’s comment: “I was raped, and I was very vocal about it when it happened with my friends. In doing so, I found that there were a disgusting number of my friends that had also experienced rape in their lives. The more we talk about it, the stronger we can be. The worst thing to do is to keep it to yourself. We need to vocalize to get the feedback to believe that we are worth more, and that it wasn’t our fault. I hate that this happened, and that it happens at all, but I am grateful for those in public positions that vocalize as well.”
