“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” ~ Dan Millman, Way of the Peaceful Warrior

On Monday March 27th, we will have a powerful new moon in Aries.
This is the first new moon of the astrological year, so it’s the official beginning of an entire new phase which is why it’s such a potent time for beginnings in our own lives.
Sometimes certain things begin before we are even aware of them, yet other times we need to make a conscious choice to leave behind the old so that we can begin walking toward the new.
In Buddhism, it’s taught that we can understand the nature of what it means to suffer through three categories: pain, change, and conditionality. Yet, as with most grievances or sufferings, all of this is done within our own minds to ourselves. So in order to truly end our suffering, we first have to heal ourselves.
It’s not enough to change our physical environment if we are still suffering within.
The reality is before we can begin something new, before we can have our magical beginning, we first have to understand what our suffering means to us. To be trapped in suffering because of pain could either be from physical manifestations within our body, or it could be the emotional distress we feel when we block what we are feeling or thinking.
While each of these categories is separate, they also are connected.
If we are in a state of suffering because of pain, then we will be unable to change and therefore will continue to suffer in our world of conditional illusions that we have designed by our own beliefs.
Beginnings are on the horizon, yet they won’t just happen if we aren’t ready to welcome them.
This new moon in Aries is powerful, transcendent even—but it won’t cure you if you haven’t decided that something needs to change. The first thing that we have to do during a time of transition is to sit with ourselves and feel where we are blocking, resisting, or placing judgement. Once we are able to see our own truths, we can then make the decision to let them go.
Anxiety over a job change, ending or starting a new relationship, family dynamics, friendships?
Just let it go.
The reality is that we can’t control everything; we can only do the best that we can with the best that we have. Sometimes no matter what we do—or will ever do—will allow us full control over every situation.
We could chose to continue to suffer because of the unknown, because of the pain we’ve experienced, the fear of change, or the conditionality we believe to be true about our lives and the situations that matter most to us—or we can decide to change our entire mindset and instead make the choice to rise above it all.
We can decide to no longer suffer because of what we can’t control.
Instead we can place our faith in ourselves, and in the power that the universe has to manifest exactly what is supposed to happen. Only when we can do this will we be ready for our new beginning.
Only once we have let go of the suffering can we welcome in the joy.
Aries wants us to start something new. It wants us to follow our hearts, not dumbly but strategically. It wants us to believe that we are worthy of having everything we’ve ever wanted. But it doesn’t particularly like us to wait for it, it wants what it wants—and it wants it now.
Aries do not procrastinate, because they know that time spent waiting is time wasted.
We are being inspired to leave behind all of our suffering, all of our mistakes, and all of our wounds that we have hung onto for far too long—those outdated storylines where we were constantly hurt, where we never became what we wanted, or had what we needed. These lies are told to us by our egos to help keep us small, to keep us comfortable within suffering.
Now is the time to end the status quo so that we can begin the next chapter in our lives.
This moment is waiting to be unwrapped and defined solely by you. We all have free will, we decide which life we want, and sometimes we choose what to work at because that is what we want for ourselves. But, the thing is sometimes life chooses us. Sometimes opportunities knock, and we know we have to answer. Sometimes we just know that now is as a good time as any to do what most scares us.
Fear will always be present when we are about to do something big, something we’ve never done before. It’s not there to make us suffering over the anxiety revolving around the change, but rather to let our souls know that we are on the right track.
Only those moments in our lives that eventually will come to define us can, in fact, scare us.
It’s not whether or not we feel afraid that matters, but what we do because—or even in spite of—it. What matters is if we can still choose our hearts even when our minds give us every reason not to. There is a lot at stake; there is so much on the horizon, and at times it can be blinding. But, you and I…we are here in this moment for a reason.
We’re here because this is exactly where we are supposed to be.
Now all we have to do is decide to begin.
