To my Love, Stop Looking for me—I am Inside you. {Poem}

Why are you trying to find me
in places
and in people?
Have you gone mad?

You’ve crossed oceans
to seek me through countries.
You’ve gotten lost in towns
to explore me through cultures.

You’re seeing my iris
in other people’s eyes,
and tasting my skin
in sugar cane.

You’ve lived new love stories
in hopes of finding me in lovers.
You’ve transformed yourself
into a star,
so you could collide with me.

What are you doing?
What’s with your insane quest?
Stop looking for me,
I am inside you.

Open your eyes, so you can see
that you are the space,
and I am a planet
floating in you.

You’re a glass,
I’m the wine.
You’re the sound,
I’m the echo.

I’m your pulse
beating every second.
I’m the blood
running in your veins.

I’m inside you—
and inside everything you do.
I’m the blanket
that covers you at night.
I’m the comb
that grooms your beard.

I’m in the water you drink
and in the food you consume.
I’m in the air you breathe
and in the ground you walk on.

Relinquish your quest,
for it’s futile.
The moment you look inside yourself,
you will find me—
and the moment you find me,
you’ll realize our separation
never took place.

I am one with you,
as you are one with me.
We’re only one soul
divided into two bodies.

Stop calling me,
stop searching for me.
Stand at a mirror,
and you shall always see me.
