If we could become still for a moment, we would see…
There’s no way to separate her body from our body.
We are made from the flesh of her flesh;
We are made of the same matter that she is constructed of.
If we could become still for a moment,
we would see
that we are breathing together,
we are born together,
and we will die
together.
If we could become still for a moment,
we would see—
we are made from the flesh of her flesh.
This tender sadness we feel right now,
it is because we have forgotten.
We have been neglecting to care for the one who gave us life.
If we could become still for a moment,
we would see—
we are made of the same matter that she is constructed of.
Her heartbeat pulses in everything.
If we could become still for a moment,
we would hear
the pitter-patter of preciousness that she holds,
that we hold too.
There’s no way to separate her body from our body.
If we could become still for a moment,
we would see—
the ache that courses through her bones
is the same one that does in ours.
Our earth needs our healing.
She and we are yearning to be united as one.
If we could become still for a moment,
we would see—
we must put our skin upon her skin again,
and touch her lightly now.
If we become still for a moment,
we would see—
there’s no way we can separate her body from our body.
How could we have abandoned her like this?
How could we have turned away from our original mother?
If we could become still for a moment,
we would see
that we must protect her,
the life-giver of us all.
Our earth needs our saving.
She needs to know that our feet are grateful
to step upon her body once more.
If we could become still for a moment,
we would see—
we must remove the layers we have placed between us,
so we can feel her rawness beneath us
now.
We have believed in a construction of disconnection,
but this is untrue.
If we could become still for a moment, we would see
that we were never standing alone.
We are breathing together,
we are born together,
and we will die
together.
To heal our earth, we must remember,
we are the flesh of her flesh.
We are made of the same matter that she is constructed from.
If we could become still for a moment,
we would see that the wounding we have done to her
is the result of our belief in separation.
We are made from the flesh of her flesh;
This kind of companion should be treated only with love.
If we could become still for a moment,
we would see—
there’s no way we can separate her body from our body.
We are made from the flesh of her flesh;
We are made of the same matter that she is constructed of.
