20 Reminders that our Intuition is a Gift we can Trust. 

When I look back at my personal and professional history, there were always signs when something had run its course.

Whether it was a job or relationship, there were signposts along the way telling me that it was time to go; the quiet whisper of my intuition telling me what I didn’t want to hear.

I became an expert at denial, the kind of expert who delved deeply into personal growth and spirituality, but walked carefully on eggshells around the parts of my life I wanted to keep whole. I could go deep into areas I wanted to change while avoiding all knowledge of the others.

Each time, circumstances would force me into a decision long after I should have made the one I knew was right. I fought it. I fought change with everything I had, even when my gut feeling agreed it was the best thing for me.

So often we look at our intuition as the bearer of bad news, the unwelcome guest at a party. But, the truth is that intuition is a gift.

It’s rightness and truth wrapped up in a bow and presented to us on a silver platter. We know what it is we should do, but we don’t want to know. The not wanting to know can make us angry or defensive; it’s the argumentative tone we adopt when someone else points out the thing we’re trying so hard not to see.

It is a gift because it leads us toward good decisions and the kind of life that will resonate with our souls. It’s not bad news at all, even when the choices that result from it are difficult or frightening. Our intuition isn’t trying to hurt us; it’s trying to save us.
