I’ve never owned a car.
When I was a kid, I remember watching an Earth Day special on PBS and being inspired to do as much as possible to help the environment. In that moment, I made a pledge to never get a car.
I’m now 38, and I still ride my bike everywhere I go. It is possible to be a 365-day a year bicycle commuter, even through the Colorado winters. I get asked all the time about how I survive without a car, so I decided to make a video addressing all the benefits of my car-free life.
The number one benefit I’ve found from riding every day? Happiness! Sure, this statistic can’t be calculated, but riding a bike brings us back to when we were kids and we felt that first feeling of freedom.
