Powerful Women, a Poem

Dear reader,

This is an epic story. I think about leaders like Marianne Williamson, this could be about her —or when I first wrote the words

I felt like it was Maharet from Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned traveling 6 millennia to protect her daughter. Either way, it’s a poem instilled with courage and enormous love.

I dedicate it to them both.

~ R.S.

I COME FROM a LONG LINE of POWERFUL WOMEN

I Come from a long line of powerful women

they were warriors

of light

whom built bridges

nations would cross

They were homesteaders

and herders

and shepherds

and queens

I come from a long line of powerful women

I come from kingdoms

that did not incarcerate

but set free

the peaceable

I come from Mary

and Eva

and Amina

and Lady Jane Grey

They were huntresses

of right mindedness

gathering fruits

from trees bared

wisdom infinite

I come from them all

do not question

my worth —

request my gift

I come from a long line of powerful women
