*Whether astrology is science or magic, we’re open to most things, if they may be of benefit. ~ Ed.
Vedic astrology is an ancient practice that has been used by churches and kings for thousands of years to inform and understand both mundane and life-changing events.
Eclipses, symbolized by a serpent, have always been one of the most-tracked astrological shifts. The Lunar Nodes that cause eclipses happen when the orbits of the sun, moon, and earth lineup in space.
This energetic vortex can quickly shift our reality.
The astrology signs in which the eclipses take place are important to understanding the themes that present themselves during these energetic shifts. They change about once every year and a half, and approximately every 18 years they return to their original position.
On March 23rd we are going to experience a new shift, with the lunar nodes returning to the “Gemini/Sagittarius” axis. This is a transformative section of the sky—the last time the nodes were here we had the 2000 presidential election, which was one of the most consequential elections in history, followed by the 9/11 terrorist event. (I break this down in extensive detail during my free webinar, here.)
The leading edge of the nodal axis, called Rahu, typically shows the “tip of the spear.”
It’s quite remarkable to look back at the last three Rahu cycles and notice the focal points of these periods, especially culturally. These placements are based on Vedic astrology which has always used a sidereal-based zodiac, accurate with the fixed space, not Western astrology which uses the seasons to calculate the zodiac.
January 2016 – September 2017:
Rahu in Leo showed the rise of nationalism and “strongmen leaders” around the world. Think of Brexit, Trump, Putin, Erdogan, Xi, and the weakening of alliances such as NATO.
September 2017 – March 2019:
Rahu in Cancer showed a resurgence in the divine feminine and respect for women. Think of the #metoo movement, women’s rights being at the forefront of societal issues, and the recent “Blue wave” cluster of female congresswomen in U.S.
March 23 2019 – September 2020:
Rahu entering Gemini will show a focus on learning new things and getting better information, data, and communication. Many challenges to our beliefs and preconceptions will be at the forefront.
Politics and Polarization.
It’s fascinating to see this transit of Rahu into Gemini right on the verge of the Mueller report being released in the U.S., and the multitude of congressional hearings that will be looking into the president. There will be disclosures that shift or undermine the narrative on the left wing as well.
The enormous polarizing of views and the potential for tribalism will continue, even in the face of many factual disclosures that will be hard to ignore. One side says “impeach,” the other side says “deep state hoax.” There will be a sort of “September 11” mentality, as well as explosive events.
But besides the mundane considerations, this will be a major shift in our personal karma for the next year and a half as well.
It will be a great time for study, experimentation, and playfulness.
It will be good for teachers, writers, and thought leaders.
It will be a good time to adjust your views and to bring more openness and tolerance to those who do not share your views.
Here are a few major themes we can expect:
- Spiritual insight and power where our faith is deepened by putting into practice what we believe.
- Church scandals, Gods, Popes, and mysticism are shown in this axis. We may see religious intolerance, and tolerance at the same time. Church scandals exploding. Pope Francis in jeopardy.
- Cosmic shifts—what to do, when, and why. The mystical, cosmic stellar universe is shown in the Gemini/Sagittarius axis. Shiva/Shakti lives here.
- Health Scare—the south node will track with Saturn for many months, which could be rough.
- Redemption and insight—but Jupiter will also join Ketu, the redeemer, in Sagittarius at the end of this year and through much of 2020.
Coming Together—There is Hope.
I’m feeling hopeful about the shift. We’ve been so polarized for the last several years. There’s nothing like an infusion of humor and intelligence in our world, and these are Gemini themes.
We also have to understand and remember that although the rhetoric is toxic these days, in politics and media, when push comes to shove human beings always unite and pull together. We see this every time there is a tragedy, which are sadly far too frequent in our world.
But I don’t think it will be easy.
There will be more spin and more propaganda than we have seen in a long time, perhaps ever.
Cyber warfare and multimedia bot farming, manipulation, and hacking will continue.
Claims that the “media is the enemy of the people” will only intensify.
We will see more pressure on journalists, perhaps even casualties.
And we may see some radical shifts in our government, including impeachments or resignations.
