Some studies locate the nature of Yoga as the reality of West and East establishing new ground. The rules of the modern world have been found wanting as nature is examined by women. The contemporary debate is tomorrow’s irrelevancy and nothing goes on but the rent. Then it is only a matter of time for Sex Sells and Power is Sexy if the right empowering questions are accessed to quiz earth of it’s wonder (The 1980s ).
Staying positive has been an effort me. Life is tumultuous. If understanding comes, then compassion is too narrow. When love is ‘acceptance’, then romance needs religious escapism. Confidence is the modern invention of a Self-Help outsider. “I wish there was room for me!” sounds desperations within. Albert Camus’s The Outsider blocks me up and I never even read it. “Existentialism” may be a good word to throw around to help tomorrow’s youth deal with drugs and drink.
SUCH obsequiousness is not relevant to a Tibetan Buddhism. That is grounds for my introduction to Elephant Journal of that theme. The inner world of a Buddhist Monk fails many tasks as The Observer Effect looks on at them from America. Explorers fall far short of Christopher Colombus and Marco Polo and our hearts are navigated by a cartography of the soul that is hard to describe.
AND it is not even this that means I give up on “Free Tibet”. How convenient are bad labels of our efforts and strife. What “Freedom” do they sing of from The Churches? Yet Yoga is in the Gymnasiums next door and the medical patents are at India’s floor. Eve does not travel well before Adam to a Virgin Active membership like Radha goes before Krishna in Hinduism. They are the only two to be inverted after the legend of Heer Ranjha set them up for contemporary developments.
That organisation needs to recollect and move on to reality of losing His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama. Then the Yogis of the world can appreciate their efforts and put them in perspective. Their oscillations of meaning and emotions could be less easily ridiculed when pitted against mountains that did not pose for portraits to SamCam Maps and Border disputes that cost us Japan in the UK.
The opening pose of The Ashtanga Flow Sequence is Surya Namaskara. The same “Sun” that watched over Jesus’s life and death with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John has been above the 80 year old Monk from Government in Tibet. When Jesus spoke he Commanded: “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew 18:3). Was he talking of today’s world rulers? Or did His Gospel Writers mean respite and solace in recollections of: “I tell you for certain that if you have faith in me, you will do the same things I am doing. You will do even greater things, now that I am going back to the Father.”(John 14:12)
They leave a MONK a Buddhism fraught with divisions that are not researched. “Free Tibet” will sound like a cash cow against some battering rams for Hindu Sectarianism from India. And there are little people too. Yogis and Yoga face challenges from PM Narendra Modi and his followers marketing their bread and butter as India’s belonging. He was labelled a Terrorist. Why isn’t violence ever homed in India?
Tomorrow, it may not be Victory they rise up to salute when there is no Cartographer of East meets West.
