Body Image and a Not So Happy Life
Sherryellingson.com
Our Body Image and Self Esteem is related to how we feel about: ourselves, others, the jobs we work at, our career choices, education, friendships, romantic partners, the clothes we wear, and the cars we drive.
As I have personally experienced and observed in others this energetic “feeling” is not something you see but sense. It is passed down from one generation to the next. The way our parents and grandparents have felt about themselves gets passed on to the next generation.
Diet after diet, handbag after handbag, the next promotion, the next raise that is earned, the neighborhood to live, the brand of the car that is driven, the University that our child is accepted to, where we vacation and so on. None of these will bring true and lasting happiness. Even that magical number on the scale will lose its appeal.
To overcome this obstacle it’s important to notice and become aware where our stories come from. What stories have be telling ourselves and trying to live with.
Being able to empower ourselves and to move forward. Taking quality care of ourselves including noticing and working with emotions that may have been numbed. Creating the life you want by knowing what’s not working.
Allowing room for positive people and situations after you have worked on the inner critic and made room for healing. True happiness begins!
