Know Why Hydration is Important for Survival

Your body depends on water to survive, every cell, tissue, and organ in your body needs it to work. You are aware that our bodies are 70% by weight and proper hydration is absolutely essential for our overall health.
The water we take optimizes blood pressure, regulates body temperature, lubricates joints, moves waste out of the body and aids in digestion.

As the mercury rises in summer, you have to pay more attention to hydrate the body. With increased summer temperatures and outdoor activities lead to more water loss-through sweating and evaporation for cooling down the body. Excessive loss of water in summers can cause muscle cramps, fatigue and above all dehydration.

But, did you know that dehydration affects your brain as well?

Our brain is made of around 75% water. If we don’t care for water loss especially in hot weather-there are bright chances of shrinking of the brain that can lead to problems like memory-loss and visual-motor activities. Other signs that you may be dehydrated include loss of appetite, dry mouth, mild constipation, and extreme fatigue. Hence, water is very important for the body, and we know how essential hydration is to our health.

Few Ideas for Hydrating the Body –:

Drink enough water depending on age, weight and activity level to remember that an adult should drink 10-12 glasses of water every day.
You can add juices in your diet routine for example-limes, lemons, oranges, etc. Eat fresh fruits, cucumbers, and melons.

Sometimes, our brain confuses thirst with hunger, so drink some water before you eat that helps in disappearing the feeling of hunger.

Be honest to your body’s need-consume liquids at intervals for example-juices, milk, herbal drinks, and buttermilk can all help hydrate your body- even caffeinated drinks (in moderation) can provide you with much – needed water. The requirement of water for hydration comes from 70-80% water and 20-30% actually from food.

Ancient super food, soaked Chia seeds are the hydrating nutrient powerhouse that absorbs water (up to 12 times their weight).

If you consume these hydrophilic seeds before exercise or a day in the sun, they will slowly release that water as you digest them, keeping your system hydrated. Plus, they are a great source of Omega -3 and many more nutrients. Grab a green coconut, as coconut water is a mineral-rich liquid packed with potassium, magnesium, sodium, and calcium. It can replenish lost fluids and electrolytes from exercise and summer temperatures.

It is true – good gut health can keep you hydrated; its beneficial bacteria help you absorb nutrients and electrolytes from food and drinks, but to make it more efficient -go for Probiotics. Probiotics can hydrate your skin too!

Water is the supporting system of life, thus remember to drink plenty of water and eat a diet rich in hydrating whole fruits and vegetables to keep you going strong all summers.

By following these tips, your body and mind would be thankful in summers.
