Halo Halo is a well known Filipino dessert that I came across on my visit to Philippine. I could not get enough of this unique dessert even thou I have tried almost all of its types and combinations.
Halo Halo (sometimes called Shaved Ice Sundae) is basically a dessert made of piled fine ice shavings in a tall or round glass (the shape depends on the container used) with a local Philippine ingredients and toppings, condiments and syrup.
In this article I’ll show you the 3 types of halo halo recipes I liked the most.
1- Original Pinoy Halo-Halo
Ingredients
1 tbsp sweetened bananas
1 tbsp sweet red beans
1 tbsp, coconut gel (nata de coco)
1 tbsp, pureed corn
1 tbsp, macapuno
1 tbsp, corn kernels
1 tbsp, Red Gulaman (Gelatin)
1 tbsp, Green Gulaman (Gelatin)
1 tbsp, Fresh or canned jackfruit
1 cup, shaved ice
1/2 cup, evaporated milk
Optional
Sweet white beans
Ice Cream (Ube or Mango flavor for a local taste)
Cheese for toppings
Pinipig
2- Milky Halo-Halo
Ingredients
1 tbsp sweetened bananas
1 tbsp, macapuno
1 slice of leche flan or creme custard, premade
1/2 cup, shaved ice
1 cup, evaporated milk
Optional
Ice Cream, Vanilla flavored
1-2 Vanilla wafer sticks
3- Fruity Halo-Halo
Ingredients Needed
1 tbsp, mangoes
1 tbsp, pineapples
1 tbsp, tapioca (sago)
1 tbsp, macapuno
1/2 cup coconut milk
Ice Cream, Mango flavor
2-3 wafer sticks
