How to live fearlessly in your own company

Some fearless women tell their stories about how they conquered their fears of going life challenges alone. While in our society stigma, doing things alone might seems weird or wrong for some people, I guarantee you that it is the best freedom feeling ever. Enjoying activities without any company it is not wrong, it is an experience that all should experiment in a life.

For me, it starts 10 years ago or more, I really wanted to try or go to events but sometimes friends didn’t want to come, so instead of missing another chance to do something I love, I decided to try having good time alone.

I’m a solo adventurer, I am a loner. I have no shame to take myself out on dates, sitting in a restaurant by myself, going to a concert or theater by myself or jumping into a flight for some holidays. I even move to few cities, all alone to start a new life from scratches.

And the more I do it, the more I’ve realized how wonderful it is to be able to do all things alone without being scared. For sure, it is great to have fun with friends, but so many people are afraid to experience moments of life alone. Why ? It builds self-confidence to go wherever you want, whenever you decide, and you realize that you don’t missed out things that your friends would not do with you. There is a sense of pure freedom and you can embrace your own company, which is the greater learning process you can offer to yourself.

You can get to move at your own pace, and you are not constantly distracted by social interactions or others group’s distractions.

The things that you can do are endless and some of the best experiences happen to me while venturing out into the world on my own.

I first learned to appreciate solo adventures when I was a fashion buyer and my company was sending me to many cities for fashion weeks. I learned to travel by myself, do all my transfers from airport to hotels or airbnb, eat alone in the restaurant, work alone in my hotel’s room. After years of living like this, it was not longer a problem for me to enjoy my own company anywhere, I was noticing so many things that I could not see before, paying attention to the details around me, especially my thoughts and emotions, so I could have time to analyze my life and making important decisions in a more clever way.

It is truly empowering to embrace yourself fully in any situation. I finally had time to embrace my inner artist, start writing and drawing again. I am going to many events, yoga classes, dance workshop, martial arts solo trip in Asia, diving into exotic places, paragliding in the mountain, volunteering in Europe to places I always wanted to visit, taking painting classes and I could finish my Yoga and Ayurvedic course.

I was able to see things in a new way, with more clarity and was able to believe in myself, in my decisions without the acceptance from others. Less limitations from all directions. I could get out into the world by myself and all my senses was heightened, so the reality became my reality and not longer colored by others comments or judgements.

So, do all the things you’ve been missing out and take a solo trip. Start small, first go to a concert or theater, then go to a weekend or even a solo trip to this place you always dreamed to go. Buy a flight ticket, try this dance or yoga class alone. Grab a tea in a nice coffee and talk to this stranger next to you. Whatever you want to do, just do it.

Go and create memories, open your heart, do not fear to failed, making mistakes but most important, enjoy your own company and love yourself.

Just go!
