We don’t change our lives through wishful thinking, though it can help, a little. We change our lives through opening up our ingrained habitual patterns to the fresh air. Here’s three new habits that, in practicing, can help disrupt our unhealthy ones. Ultimately, the goal is to be free of all such routines—as Pema says, we greet the sun in the morning simply because it feels natural, and wholesome, to do so.
The challenge is to pick one of the following three tasks and apply it to your life for one month:
- Forgo plastic lined to-go cups
- Take your shoes off when you enter a house or office
- No multitasking while on your phone
The goal? To allow yourself the gift of enjoying life. After one month, pick the next task.
