Semi-Automatic: A Poem

Precious lives taken away
It happens nearly every day
Countless voices prematurely silenced
An endless stream of senseless violence
Thoughts and prayers are just not working
Under the surface, danger is lurking

That danger is not the mentally ill
Perhaps it’s weapons designed to kill
But the right to bear arms! A rallying cry
Something must be done, lest innocents die
So take a second, and be pragmatic
Must the arms we bear be semi-automatic?
