To the person who killed my dad,
I don’t know why you did it or how you could muster it in you to do it. The amount of hate you have inside you to kill a man the way you did is revolting. Everyone tells me I ought to forgive you, I will not, but neither will I let this consume me.
My dad would keep telling me that I couldn’t fathom what a horrible world this is and he was right. Sadly, you taught me this lesson by taking away him way. Ironic isn’t it? You managed to teach me in one night, a lesson that he tried to teach me for almost 3 decades.
By killing him, you have taken away so much from my siblings, my kids, and I. You crushed our hearts and you took away so many possibilities but, you have also brought all of us so much closer, making us stronger than we ever imagined we could be. Your action has brought about unexpected connections in my life. You have taught me through his murder, that ultimately, love overcomes all, but only if we choose to.
The law may never punish you for this but, life will. Karma will. I know that whatever you killed him for will ruin you. I hope the image of him haunts you for your life. I hope his last moments with you will torture you. I want you to understand that the positive he has done in this life will comfort and inspire us to be better than we have ever been.
You may have physically taken him from us but, he will always be in our hearts and the hearts of so many people and there is nothing you can do to take that away.
You can run from us, you can keep hiding from us, but know that you cannot shy away from what you did.
Just know that one day, whether you like it or not and when you least expect it, life is such that you will have to look me in the eyes and tell me why you did it. Until that day comes, I hope you can live with yourself and not let the guilt of your actions destroy you.
