Why Regular Dental Hygiene is Must for Good Health?

Dental hygiene means keeping your teeth clean and fresh through regular brushing and a regular check-up with a Dentist. If you do not take care of your teeth, then it causes many problems like—bleeding gums, infection on the tooth root, bad breath due to hard tartar, loose teeth, etc. So, for good health and a fresh smile, you should take care of your teeth and take a periodical visit to your dentist.

Here is some Dental Hygiene process which helps you to keep your teeth healthy and clean

Help Prevent Decay

Tooth Decay is commonly known to us as a cavity, which is a very common problem for children as well as for adults. If you take foods which contain excessive sugar, it can cause the accumulation of Plaque (Tartar) on your teeth. The bacteria of that plaque produce an acid which is very harmful to our tooth enamel, the outer part of our teeth. Due to that plaque, we often lose our teeth, or it can also cause tooth infection. Generally, cavities happened due to poor cleaning of mouth or due to taking an excessive amount of sugar and junk food. To prevent tooth decay, you should maintain some tips which make your teeth strong and fresh-

Brush your teeth after every meal if it is possible. You must brush before you go to sleep at night.

Take a regular visit to your dentist and check your cavity risk level. They provide therapy which helps you to remove hard plaque from your teeth.

Apply proper brushing technique and use a soft brush. If you gently brush your teeth, it will remove the bacteria from your teeth which are the main reason for making a cavity.

Take nutritious foods and avoid sugary and junk food. You should also take a lot of fluoridated water.

Early Detection of Dental Problems

If you notice some unusual dental symptoms, you should rush to your dentist and check your teeth. Here are some symptoms which can be easily detected by you.

Toothache is a common problem which usually caused by a cavity. A dentist can easily find the root cause of toothache and can give you the proper treatment to prevent your teeth.

Bleeding gum problem is caused due to Gingivitis or can be caused by hard brushing. If the bleeding gum problem causes regularly, then immediately go to your doctor.

Mouth Ulcer happens due to bacterial infection. If you don’t cure on time, then it can be turned into Oral Cancer.

Bad breath is caused due to improper brushing, dry mouth, or by smoking. If it always happens, then visit your doctor and take proper treatment. The side-effect of a certain medicine can cause dry mouth. In this case, the doctor gives you medication to retain your mouth moisture.

If you see these symptoms in your daily life, then consult with your doctor immediately. You should take one or two visits per year for your healthy teeth. It also helps to detect the early signs of disease like—Diabetes, Leukemia, Oral Cancer, Heart disease, etc. Bad breath and bleeding gums could cause of Diabetes. Moreover, mouth sore and painful jaw give the symptoms of, heart attack.

Preventing Bad Breath

Bad breath mainly caused due to bacteria. If someone consumes foods with a strong odor, then after brushing the smell doesn’t go properly. If you don’t brush after taking sugary or junk food, the food grains remain in your teeth and build plaque on teeth which is another cause of bad breath. Dry mouth also gives you a sign of bad breath. To prevent bad breath, follow these rules

  • Brush your teeth after every meal.
  • Use a mouthwash which washes the odor-causing bacteria.
  • Drink a lot of water to keep your mouth hydrated.
  • Brush your tongue carefully to reduce odor.
  • Avoid foods which give you strong odor like—Onion, Garlic, etc.
  • Change your toothbrush every 3 months.
  • Take regular dental checkups.

Avoiding Teeth Loss

Teeth loss generally caused due to gum disease, which is usually happen due to irregular dental hygiene. To prevent tooth loss and keep to your smile beautiful, you should follow these things—

Good dental hygiene habits can prevent tooth decay and can stop tooth loss. Brushing teeth after every meal and flossing once a day prevents cavity.

Brushing can clean your gums and reduce plaque which grows on your teeth and for that you may lose your teeth. To prevent gum disease, you should visit your doctor every six months for teeth cleaning.

Consultation About Tooth Whitening

If food grains remain in your mouth when you consume too much sugar or snack, they cause plaque on your teeth. The plaque can change your tooth’s natural color, and your tooth color can be turned into yellow or black. The chemical which is used for whitening the tooth is Bleach. Tooth whitening is safe and can do at your teeth whitening at home by using whitening toothpaste or by using some home remedies. Tooth whitening can also be done by your dentist using whitening strips which contain Hydrogen Peroxide. But there are some side-effects also-

Teeth sensitivity—after one or two treatment, your tooth becomes more sensitive.

Irritate gums—it happens when whitening products come in contact with your gums.

To maintain the tooth’s natural color, you should take weekly or monthly visits to your dentist.
