Imagine always being able to rely on someone. Not based on ulterior motive or expectations. Their sheer desire to assist in any way possible. Imagine the ability to be true to who and how you are. No judgment, criticism or ridicule. Despite bad choices, ill words or behavior. Love in the purest of forms. Never shying away. Making themselves available through your ups and downs. A simple phone call away. Sharing in your successes and encouraging you to press forward in the midst of failure. Imagine ridding yourself of the need to be perfect because this person accepts you. Flaws and all. Motivating you to just be. Not a yes man. Not telling you what you want to hear. Ensuring you remain on the right track. Pulling your coat tail if you attempt to detour. No hesitation in correcting you if the need occurs. Pushing you to make yourself a priority. Helping you realize that your happiness is vital. Don’t second guess it. Imagine that person always believing in you even when you doubted yourself. Imagine relocating and distance creeping in. Communication still strong. Thinking that person would be here forever. Imagine getting that dreadful call. He’s fading fast. Imagine returning home only to find a shell of the person you once knew. Imagine saying your final goodbyes. Face drenched with tears. Fists clenched in anger. Heart shattered into pieces. Imagine thinking it’s all a dream. Only to wake up and realize this is your newfound reality. Early Dismissal. He went home too soon. RIP Pops!
