The Law of Attraction.
Most of us have heard of it, but a majority have no idea how it actually works.
It took me years to fully understand the concept of thoughts as energy and attracting things into my life.
I’m here to give an example of how you can start implementing these basic, yet not so easy principals into your life.
The reason I say they aren’t so easy is because we have been programmed to think and act the exact opposite of the way in which these laws of the universe work.
Sounds a little woo-woo, I know. But stick with me here.
Humans are more inclined to blame others for what’s lacking in their lives than take accountability of why their life is a disaster.
It’s much easier to use excuses such as your upbringing, an ex-partner, your asshole boss, or the fact you weren’t the lucky sperm of a multi-billionaire.
But what if I were to tell you that the money in your back account, where you are at in your career, and the current state of your relationship status is 100 percent a reflection of what you’re manifesting into your life by the thoughts and energy you send out into the universe?
These are just a few examples of what humans complain about on a regular basis. It’s like nails on a fucking chalkboard to my ears because we continue to act like our life is out of our control.
*Insert excuses, blaming, and four-letter words here—because I don’t know your life and what you have been through.*
You are right, and I don’t.
Horrible things happen that often seem beyond our control.
But what we do in reaction to these events we can control—and can often result in dodging many of these obstacles once we learn to apply these principles.
Until about a year ago, I would constantly attract the most toxic relationships and jobs you can imagine.
We all have that friend who says, “I only attract assholes, cheaters, and liars.”
Or maybe you are that person, like I was. Now that I fully understand these laws, I realize it was because I was attracting them into my life by not wanting them.
I’d meet a guy and be thinking, “Please don’t be like the rest. Please don’t be another waste of my time.”—and this is exactly what I would get every time.
Same with trying to find a job I didn’t hate. “Please don’t be like my last boss. Please can I not be burnt out after only a few months?” And bam—same shit. Every. Single. Time.
I was cursed. Life just hates me. God hates me even more. Why do I even try?
You see, the universe responds directly to the energy of all of our thoughts.
Abraham Hicks, who I have been following for a few years, explains this as our vortex.
You confuse the hell out of your vortex when you think for one minute what you desire, the next minute what you hate, and then five minutes on all that you fear. I realized this is what was blocking me from attracting what the universe was holding for me.
You want the new job, you’re sick of being broke, you want to find true love, but you feel like garbage. So what do you do?
All you have to do is practice thinking thoughts that make you feel good.
Sounds easy, right?
But have you listened to yourself lately?
Ninety percent of our thoughts are negative. I made that number up. But, I bet it’s pretty damn close.
Abraham says this over and over: “The work is to feel good. You can’t get there from here.”
Meaning, you can’t attract the things you want in life when you constantly are beating yourself up over not having them.
You have to learn to feel good without them and raise your vibration so you can attract what you want.
This is what she refers to as “Receiving Mode.”
Receiving Mode is what she explains as being “tuned in, tapped in, turned on.”
And, let me tell you, it feels fucking incredible.
There have been moments that literally take my breath away when I realize, wow, this is exactly what I have been manifesting, as I look around and I’m living what I have been daydreaming about.
It almost feels silly—but it fucking works.
As you are in traffic, laying in bed at night, any time you are daydreaming, turn those daydreams into manifesting mode.
Picture yourself exactly where you want to be. The job you want to have. The person you want to spend your life with. Anything that is important to you.
Another important piece here is that you can’t attract these things if you don’t even know what you want. This was such an ah-ha moment for me.
My alarm went off, and I was laying in bed feeling miserable.
I had to get ready for work and absolutely hated my job.
I remember thinking, “I don’t want to live this life anymore.” And It was like the universe responded with, “Well, what kind of life do you want to live?”
I laid there thinking, Shit. This is why I’m not attracting what I want.
Because I have no idea what that looked like. I didn’t even realize how I was just coasting along on autopilot while feeling like life was completely out of my control.
So what did I do?
I made a list of all the jobs I’ve had. It was a lot. I wrote down what I liked and didn’t like about them.
Then I wrote down bullet points of the job that I wanted. What it looked like, felt like, what the people were like there, and so on. Getting as detailed as possible.
I continued to look for jobs and had several interviews.
Even when I was denied, I didn’t get down, because I knew something better was coming my way.
When I was at work, I would go outside and visualize being at the job I loved. I didn’t sit there and think about how much I hated it there and how awful my boss was anymore.
This wasn’t easy.
It’s almost like brainwashing yourself. Negative thoughts come much easier than positive ones in times of desperation.
After two months, I landed an amazing job and felt so empowered.
It’s such a shift in your daily life when you realize you are in control.
It’s also a huge bitchslap in the face when you don’t want to take accountability for your current circumstances.
I encourage you to at least open your mind and educate yourself on the Law of Attraction.
I will leave this on the most important note.
Don’t beat the drum of not having enough—because you will continue to not have enough. Don’t beat the drum of being tired and broke—or you will continue to be tired and broke.
