Be Nice

You wanted to read something without translation, something sweet
So, I lay out my thoughts on a river of words, driven by loss
When it all fell, you stood strong beside me, to raise me like an orphan
When I turned away toward the destruction, you stayed, to fight for me

Moments of love, I’ve tasted its semantics now looking back
When my soul grew restless, you stretched out your arms
As I picked up bottle after bottle, you swept away the glass
I forgot to live, you reminded me of my smile

You wanted to hear something nice, so I sang for you
I started fires that burned me inside, you became water
Then I lay with death, tempt it with every breath
You became timing, to push it back every day

The photographs show something else
A smile with a smile, like two hands on a clock
They are in sync moving each forward
It’s the exchange of give and no take

I stay chasing ghosts, as you move me to reality
I seriously can’t talk about it, but you feel it
The illegal RISE of my end is what you will not let end
So, the night grows into daylight, & you say be nice
