In the age of the COVID-19 pandemic, we need connection more than ever.

If you’re already quarantined with your partner, family, or friends—it is love and a deeper connection that will carry our spirits through this pandemic. While you are staying safe at home, take time to experience these three tantra techniques to cultivate more presence and connection:

Eye Gazing Meditation

>> Find a comfortable, quiet, and clean space.
>> Begin by sitting across from each other with legs crossed and a straight spine.
>> Place your hands on top of each other’s knees.
>> Start to become aware of the inhale and exhale of your breath.
>> Take a few moments to sync your breath with your partner.
>> Once you are synced, make eye contact by looking into each other’s left eye.
>> Allow yourself to drop into ease throughout this connection.

Continue for 10 to 15 minutes. When your eye contact feels like too much, take it in intervals or close the eyes and continue with just the breath.

Hands on Heart Meditation

>> Find a comfortable, quiet, and clean space.
>> Begin sitting across from each other with legs crossed and a straight spine.
>> Both of you, place your right hand on your partner’s heart and your left hand on top of your partner’s left hand.
>> Close your eyes.
>> Tune into the rhythm of each other’s hearts.
>> Softly sink into feeling the energy of the heart chakra.
>> Harmonize your breath.

Continue with a deep presence for 10 to 15 minutes.

Five Minutes of Active Sharing and Listening

You will need a pillow and a timer for this exercise.

One partner will be sitting upright with a pillow in their lap. The other partner will lay flat on their back with their head placed on the pillow. This positioning helps to create a feeling of support and safety while sharing.

Set the timer for five minutes.

The partner laying down will be invited to share for five uninterrupted minutes. They can share whatever is on their mind recently and whatever may be coming up from them that they have been neglecting to express.

Allow pauses and silence to come and go. It is usually after a few moments of silence that the most valuable pieces come to the surface.

The partner who is sitting up is encouraged to actively listen and stay respectfully silent during the time of sharing.

Once the timer is up there can be a further discussion on topics brought up, if needed. Take a few moments to hug and support your partner in whatever way feels best before switching places.
