Big Oak stands on his own
Never bending, never bowing
Standing strong against the winds
Unbothered by viscous storms
His limbs reach out to the sky
with no remorse
His roots tethered into earth,
Anchoring slow and deliberately
Big Oak isn’t bothered by tiny creatures
He stands wise and watches over them
Shelters them from the rain
Nourishing them with small miracles that grow
from his branches
Big Oak reaches for his brother, Sun
and isn’t afraid of Suns wrath
Instead he grows higher to reach him
To feed off of his light and warmth
Big oak was here first
But he doesn’t brag
Or ask for recognition
He settles quietly in his domain
Enjoying his own existence
And when Big Oak Falls
His rumble can be heard for miles
It shatters and shakes the whole forest
He leaves a gaping hole in Mother Earth
As she weeps for his absence
Big Oak doesn’t mind, for it is his time
He says goodbye to the tiny creatures,
Farewell to Brother Sun
For he revels in the thought
that his legacy will go on
