My eyes are hooded
To disguise
The ugly truth
These green fields
Hide danger
And talk
With the wind
Behind my back
I laugh
Like I don’t care
The trees stare
Their branches
Tight
Around my neck
I’ve had worse
I say
With the taste of fire
On my breath.
