The Horrifying Reality: Racism is Real

“I can’t breathe.” The three words that impacted many around the world with the one single act that followed. George Floyd, a black man in America, killed solely on the color of his skin. One thing he has absolutely no control over, and he was killed for it. The story of George Floyd is a long list of many. Black men and women in this country are being punished for what they are- black men and women. The simple fact that those officers deemed fit to kill an innocent man, George Floyd, based on what he looked like is absolutely disgusting. Those officers knew exactly what they were doing when they took his life. That cop knew exactly what he was doing when he placed that knee on George Floyd’s neck. Racism never went away, no matter how we may feel, thinking that things are a lot better now than they were before, that’s a lie. This kind of hatred has not been dealt with in the way it should. George Floyd, Eric Garner, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, Terence Crutcher, the list goes on and on. How many more lives must be taken for people to take action? For humanity to kick in and save the lives of future generations? The ignorance of others should not give them the power to play god. I cannot speak on behalf of the African American community, but as a human being, this needs to end. The hate, the fear, the judgments, need to end. Hatred will only end when we end it. Fear will only go away when we make it. Judgment will only stop when we stop it.
