THE IMPORTANCE OF YOGA, PRANAYAMA, AND MEDITATION IN OUR LIFE

Yoga, Pranayama, and Meditation: the perfect combination to help you cultivate more mindfulness, self-awareness, health, and vitality. When taken together, these practices improve our sense of well-being on an energetic, mental, spiritual, and physical level. They work in harmony, like pieces of puzzle, to bring us into a better state of being and fill us with present moment awareness. The more we practice, the easier it becomes, and the more we can expect to reap the benefits. Let’s take a closer look at each practice.

The importance of yoga in our daily life is immeasurable as it can benefit us in so many diverse ways. Yoga postures help us deepen our understanding of our body and can help eliminate stress by literally releasing tension from the muscles when you stretch. A good yoga practice encourages us to connect the mind and the body, as we synchronize breath with movement and thought with sensation. As we start to practice yoga more and more regularly, we will see improvements in our physical body via flexibility, mobility, strength. As we develop an appreciation for our physical body, we feel inclined to practice healthier habits. Perhaps we start to become kinder to ourselves, and maybe we start to see ourselves in a new, more positive, light. We begin to realize we are more flexible, more strong, and more capable than we thought and it presents us with an opportunity to practice discipline, dedication, and patience and reap the benefits of these skills in our daily lives.

Pranayama: vital-life force, divine energy, breath control. Pranayama has the capacity to both to relax, and to energise us. The essence of this practice cannot be explained with words, it is something that needs to be experienced as we feel for ourselves the diverse ways pranayama affects us. We can use this practice to cultivate a sense of harmony, balance, and ease in the body; or, we can use it to generate heat, energy, and momentum. For the simplicity of this practice, it’s a wonder more people don’t practice it – much like meditation, you don’t need anything but yourself and some time. Pranayama benefits our physical and energetically body which can have a positive affect on our sense of well-being and self.

And finally, we come to meditation. The journey of meditation is often something that is profoundly unique to the individual; through cultivating more self-awareness we can begin to understand ourselves and our vices more deeply. Meditation changes us on a mental, spiritual, and energetic level; through regular practice we find we become more patient, more perceptive, more calm and more relaxed. We can see with clarity how we react and respond in certain situations, we can begin to sharpen our understanding of reality, and we can bring ourselves more deeply into the here and now – the benefits of which are truly endless.

Yoga and meditation, meditation and pranayama, pranayama and yoga, or the holy trio – any combination will improve your sense of well-being. They are transformative tools that can help us change our life for the better; and the beauty of it – they can be practiced by anyone, anywhere, anytime.
