Biden has Picked his Vice President: it’s Kamala.
- “Does this mean Pence’s wife has to be on stage with him during the VP debate?”

I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate.

Back when Kamala was Attorney General, she worked closely with Beau. I watched as they took on the big banks, lifted up working people, and protected women and kids from abuse. I was proud then, and I’m proud now to have her as my partner in this campaign.

It’s go time!
Kamala wasn’t my first choice. She wasn’t my second. Warren, Bottoms, were my top two. But you know—it ain’t up to me. And I’m in. I’m in for anyone who supports science, democracy, kindness, honesty, and who has evolved in a more progressive direction.
“Joe Biden here. Big news: I’ve chosen Kamala Harris as my running mate. Together, with you, we’re going to beat Trump.”
It’s one of the most significant VP picks in history, given Biden’s age. She’s practically anointed for a leading run down the line, given her age.
Reminder: she “voted with Bernie 93% of the time.” She’s the 4th most progressive senator.
But is she genuine? Is her history suspect? Will she and Biden connect, as all Presidents and VPs must do, as human beings? Her electric, yet rather calculated and twisted moment criticizing him indicates some doubt.
To that point, from an Elephant reader, “I’m disappointed as well. I don’t like how changeable she is on policy. She only says she agrees with progressive policy in order to grab power, then will ultimately not follow through. That’s what I’m afraid of anyways.”
Yeah…I was pulling for Warren–she can rebuild what Trump has destroyed. That said, from another dear Elephant reader: “I think it says something important about Biden’s well-documented ability to work well with others that he picked a strong woman who had previously opposed him.”
To all those who think questioning her is the same as not wanting to boot out the corrupt, demagogic, cowardly, ignorant President Trump, saying something like: “Maybe y’all could just get on board? He announced like 18 minutes ago and already the Elephant Journal is on the “what is wrong with her” train. Knock it off. We must be united or we can just kiss this election goodbye and settle in for four more years of the moron in our house. Please!”
I get it. We want Trump out, and I’ll work for it. I’m all in. But I don’t think you read this article—you’re just commenting on my post’s TITLE on social media. If all we do is shout at each other on twitter and Facebook, we’re no better than the fake news far right. We’re allowed to disagree respectfully–that’s one thing that makes us better…democracyats.
Oh, how I would rather have seen Warren, an FDR for this progressive moment, or Keisha Leigh Bottoms, a young Obama, in a way—cool, hip, grounded, empathetic. Instead, we have a Clinton-esque (Bill) charming, ingratiating, inconsistent, disorganized VP. Will I support her and Joe’s ticket. Of course. They get science, climate change, and the need to reinvigorate the demands of democracy, including voting rights, equality, and an EPA that protects people and nature, not polluters.
Let’s do this.

PPS, a great comment from Reddit:
2. “I was going to vote for Joe Biden but I won’t now because I’m a Russian troll who wants to peel off Biden voters by attacking him from the left.”
