“The Black Panther lives. And when he fights for the fate of Wakanda, I will be right beside him.” ~ Shuri from Black Panther
Ever since I was a little girl, I have been fascinated by superheroes.
As a grown woman, nothing has changed, except that one superhero came along who was nothing like the others.
When I first saw Marvel’s Black Panther, I was fascinated by the depth of the character “T’Challa“: his kindness, his wisdom, his commitment to his values and people, and his complexity.
Just like many people out there, I was saddened to hear of the death of the actor who was a real-life hero himself.
I was touched when I saw how he cheered up the children who were battling cancer while his own battle was as hard. Small gestures like these always make a big difference. It is in these moments that we remember superheroes even after they leave this world.
Chadwick Boseman died at the young age of 43 after battling colon cancer for four years.
To pay tribute to him, I chose 11 quotes from Marvel’s Black Panther that the world needs today more than ever:
“What happens now determines what happens to the rest of the world.”
“You were wrong, all of you were wrong, to turn your backs on the rest of the world! We let the fear of discovery stop us from doing what is right.”
“I will not abandon someone to die when I have the means to save his life.”
“Guns, so primitive.”
“Today we don’t fight for one life, we fight for all of them.”
“Wakanda survived for so long by only fighting when absolutely necessary.”
“Your heart is so full of hatred. You are not fit to be king.”
“If you’re not so stubborn, you would make a great queen.”
“I would make a great queen because I am stubborn—if that’s what I wanted.”
“You’re a good man with a good heart. And it’s hard for a good man to be king.”
“In times of crisis, the wise build bridges while the foolish build barriers.”
“Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers.”
