Your life loves you

You know that saying “when you love your life it will love you back”?  I used to hear this and immediately shrug with an eye roll!  Like, yah … right … that is all it takes!

I now know through this covid experience, that this statement is true!  It is true for me, and for many people I have spoken to about it.

Let’s not confuse our life loving us with our life being perfect, okay?!  We know perfection does not exist!

Something that is incredibly inspiring about a global devastation of struggling economies, incurable illness and overall uncertainty in every sense of life is that, we are all in it, together.

The experience whether it be personal, or from a distance is so very real.  We are, all experiencing this in one way or another.  This pandemic affects, everyone.

We are all in this together.

The more I read these words, hear them and speak them, the more I learn that they ring more true with each passing day of 2020.

Prior to the pandemic, I like to think I understood positive thinking, the law of attraction and such.

From where I sit now, I realize I still have so much to learn and unlearn!

Positive thinking does not mean that negativity does not exist … it means that the focus is on the positive.

Mr. Rogers used to say that his Mother told him to “look for the helpers.”

Positive thinking might be best explained using this kind of example!  Focus on the good.  Focus on the helpers.  Focus on your blessings.  Focus on your unique gifts that you can offer to your community.  Focus on love.  Focus on compassion.  Focus on kindness.

While focusing on the positive, you are not ignoring facts like mass numbers of job loss, or hundreds of thousands of lives impacted, shaken even, by this nightmare our world woke up to one day months ago.  Focusing on the positive creates space within our being for holding others in our thoughts.  Focusing on the positive helps to remind people that we, as a people CAN AND WILL survive this.

It feels lately like my life is loving me because I am somehow able to wake up focused on breath in my lungs and the rest as a simple cherry on top!

What do you love about your life today?  I invite you to ask yourself this, and even take it a step further and ask your friends and family the same question.

Let’s keep this virus from taking from us something we can prevent it from taking … our gratitude.
