What drew you to the music industry?
I was first drawn to the music industry when I was very young around 9 or 10. I liked most genres of music from Korn, to Led Zeppelin, and Outkast to Kanye. But the first rapper I really dove into was Lil Wayne. It was Carter 2 & 3 that really made me a big fan of rap. From then on it was Kid Cudi & then Charles Hamilton, then Wiz and then Mac to a pre-debut Big Sean. I dissected these guys’ discography. I definitely get a lot of influence in my own music from these artists.
Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music?
I try to tell my story as well as stick to your traditional rap themes. But I always try to incorporate a lot of lyricism when I can. Two of my biggest goals are to keep the audience guessing and to make music that you can vibe to with your friends but when you’re listening by yourself you tune into the lyrics more and realize that I’m actually saying something.
What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? Why?
My favorite part is for sure performing. You control the vibes, if people weren’t “fucking with you” you really have no one to blame but yourself. You gotta come at the crowd with more energy next time. I feel like when I get up on stage I’m a different beast, it’s like somebody else takes over. I let go of all inhibitions and just let loose. My least favorite is for sure the time consumption of the mixing and mastering process. By time I drop a song it’s usually old to me due to delays on mixes and masters. I’m almost numb to the vibes and lose touch on how they will be perceived because I’ve heard the song a million plus times. However it can work in my favor as well because I can almost plan my own progression.
Who were your music influences?what hip-hop albums did you grow up listening to?
I kinda got into this earlier but my biggest influences are Lil Wayne, Kanye, Cudi, Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, Andre 3000, Cam’ron. All these guys I grew up on and really have a large influence on my own music.
Your new album dropping on September 4th what should streamers expect?
An incredibly cohesive project. Something that is intended to be played in order from start to finish. Experimental and abrasive with glitches and unique vocal effects. Something incredibly polished yet purposefully gritty.
Any upcoming tours tied to your new album?
Yes, I will perform a good amount of the new album however I also like performing unreleased tracks to give fans an incentive to come see the show so they can hear stuff before I release
