R U OK?
My objective today is was to personally reach out (private message cos I’m not ok to talk on the phone ❌☎️) reach out and message someone directly and see how r u going
I ended up messaging heaps of ppl because I realised I gad more than 18 unread DMs ?
Posting as a status is too general and I don’t think will get a great response rate
Mayb if RU OK day is anything like sales ?! U get a 100% better response rate when you message ppl directly with a personal message compare to a blanket social media spam
Take RU OK day with you for the month of September. Try, every time you bump into someone ask some questions that might help them to open up to you or vice versa
As a hairdresser I genuinely like to check in with every client at every visit and gage if they’re doing ok
When someone tells you what they’ve been up to, repeat it back to them in summary ur interpretation this is a great tool for ur friends to get an objective view of what they’re going through or what they’re up to and what does it mean what is it teaching them what will they do differently next time ?
I’ve always worn my heart on my sleeve mainly because I struggle to utilise the ‘filter’ facility in my brain my opinion spews out faster than I can track
But sometimes over sharing is good ? When I had a mental break down I shared that with the world. Heaps of ppl reached out to me and it helped them to feel safe to share with me what they were going thru
I think we should all let down our walls a little and share the crisis they’re enduring ?
Why suffer in silence
Maybe ur friends and family are sick of hearing about ur problems and an acquaintance might have some insight to share with u ? I had a friend hang himself last year. I’m still grieving his death everyday. Some days more than others. But it’s made me think is there anyone else I’m connected with that fantasises about dying ? It’s ok ur not weird, lots of ppl do. Look at the statistics. But please tell someone ? Tell me ? Tell a GP ?
What strategies have helped me when I’ve felt like shit ? Healthy food ✅ exercise ✅ meditation ✅ gratitude journal ✅ wake up earlier (5am) ✅ napping ✅ sex ✅ reading ✅ ONE LOVE✨ #RUOK
