Dear Mom: All the Things I Wish I could Say to You.

Letter to my Mom

I entered this world with scared and curious eyes,

Searching for a touch that felt safe enough
to soothe my cries.
And there you were, holding me through;
welcoming me in this world of yours
of which I was the light and soul;
We signified a bond
a love so pure and whole.

I miss the warmth of your hand, Ma
and your gentle hugs.
Those words that lifted my tired soul
and made me feel that I’m enough, Ma.

I miss your laughter and those silly jokes;
your wisecracks and funny tales;
stories of strength, courage, and your fairy tales.

It’s been long since I heard your voice;
since you scolded me, and we fought
and made up again;
poured our love into each other’s arms.
Everyday. Again, and again.

I miss you more than you’ll ever know
more than I’ll ever show.

There is no love
more precious than a mother’s love;
a love—whole and complete.

There is no love
like yours, Ma
and will never be.

I know you’re up there
watching me silently
smiling just the way you used to
guiding me just the way you used to.

I know you’re there,
just not with me.
Yet, you’re mine, and will always be.

I am sending this letter to you
to tell you I love you.
My soul is tied to yours
and
will always be.
