There is no shame in asking for directions

I absolutely detest the feeling of being lost — unless when I get intentionally lost — visiting a new city, finding new places. These are the few times I can really relax and explore (and my husband hates it) but I don’t like to get lost going somewhere, and the worst is to get lost in translation (don’t get me started there).

Can you imagine how I felt when I tried to express that something wasn’t in my budget and the other person only understood it as no in my “butthead”? Yeah, news flash, you don’t pronounce English as well as you write it!

Can anyone explain to me what’s the issue in asking for directions? Am I missing something? Did I miss the day in school when that lesson was taught? Apparently, there is a collective knowledge that asking for directions or help is a bad thing.

Yet at the same time, somehow, people enjoy getting lost on the net for hours and hours at a time. What are they searching for? It’s endless. Maybe it’s the answers that they are never satisfied with. Should I Google this? 😉

It’s such a contradiction. We’re not embarrassed to ask our trusted consultants and confidants, Google or YouTube, for all kinds of free advice, but we won’t go directly to experts and actually learn.

I’m wondering what Freud would say about this? ?

Well, let me tell you a little secret, I was one of you.

I was in the never-ending search for learning and getting insights in an overwhelming world of overloading of information.

There are so many opinions for everything, and now I know that what ranks on top is not necessarily the best one. Who to trust? Does everyone want to get my email address to upsell me? And for what?

So here’s my take: some people are legit in these industries (whichever one you’re in), but you just have to find them.

These are the people who are willing to give a lot for free, some in online training format, ebooks, or emails.

So take it, and if it is your cup of tea (in my case coffee), don’t stop there! Follow that person, buy their classes, support them and better yet — ask for the f*cking help! Don’t be that person who doesn’t want to ask for directions!
