vanilla is for the faint hearted

oH dear god. If i end up in a vanilla relationship where dinner time is checked off in a military, clockwork fashion, then I’m running for the highlands. the acknowledgement of this brings a smile on my face because i think i’m starting to realise what i deserve. I deserve the while fucking cake. That includes love, emotion, passion, fire, intrigue, wonder and so much more. I often think about the concept of dinner time, and how in so many families it is a chore and a check box to tick at the end of the day. Dinner cooked, kids fed, kitchen cleaned, bed time and on the couch by 9pm. I think i just internally vomited. Where are the elongated dinners, the dancing in the kitchen whilst cooking, the smearing of cream from the remnants of dessert as we talk about how we have grown and who we want to become. COnverstations of our dreams and how we plan to not take them to our graves with us, but instead make the memories and smile on our death bed knowing those dreams came true. Knowing that nothing in our life was vanilla. That it was exotic. How do we forget so easily that one day we are all going to die… it is inevitable. So why are we living our lives like it exists on an endless clock. Why do we keep thinking that there is no end?

I think it’s because we are greedy.

We are greedy in insurmountable ways. But the most devastating resource we take without second thought is time. Our time is not finite.

The good thing for me in my current stage in life is that I am so time rich. And yes whilst it is inevitably it will run out, we have so much time.

We need to make the most of it. To have long dinners and fulfilling conversations because one day we won’t be able to. So relish the time you have. Don’t take a second of it for granted. and with that time, use it to live to love and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON’T EAT VANILLA ICECREAM
