The adaption of flexible workspaces is increasing in the post-Covid world. Many workers are used to working from home during long time of quarantine, so many businesses move to hybrid work model with flexible workplace to adapt this new normal. This change can bring a lot of uncertainty and cause many challenges in operation management. Here are a few ways to adjust to a flexible workplace.

Training

A flexible work arrangement seems like a great opportunity, but not every employee can handle work without any face to face interaction. Especially for people who have a hard time getting an initial understanding of a project, a flexible work mode can bring many challenges. Organizations must ensure to encourage proper communication even though there seem to be geographical barriers.

Other than that, there need to be proper tools that will facilitate a workplace to collaborate technologically. Employees must also be provided with the right telecommunication tools so they don’t find a lack of communication as a hindrance to their workflow.

Equal Acknowledgement

Remote workers must be treated the same as office workers, with similar possibilities for advancement and growth. If a trade union exists, it must be contacted to guarantee that these workers are treated fairly.

Effective Communication Channels

Because of the nature of homeworking, employees are sometimes unseen and work irregular hours. As a result, the focus is on task-oriented labor — completing defined tasks – and trust. Clear and effective communication routes and the need to stay in touch with colleagues and prevent isolation are essential.

Work Management

A computer with an Internet connection, a mobile phone, and office furniture are often supplied to remote and homeworkers. This helps employees get the experience of a professional work environment, and employees will feel more productive working this way. In addition, employees must show time management abilities, the capacity to work independently, self-motivation, and adaptability.
