There’s a little space
between who you are and who you want to be;
A space that is the home to all your confusions and tears
A space that holds your deepest desires and fears
A space that keeps you up at night
Flashing memories of a past gone by…
And the insecurities of what’s to come
Thoughts of who you were and who you might become.
It’s an abyss
of hopelessness and helplessness
Of chaos and despair
through the night…
And
A promise of what tomorrow can bring
When dawn shines its first light.
It’s where you let go of parts of you
that need to be freed
and embrace the ones you’ve been afraid to acknowledge…
The ones, that feel more like you.
It’s a scary place filled with possibilities
This space between enmeshment and empowerment
Where you shed your old skin that had the colors and patterns drawn by others
And begin to paint your own self, in hues that shine.
A space that I call the “spark”
Where you begin to find your self
Your light
That you can call “mine.”
