Jon Batiste is far more than a bandleader on a famous late-night show—he just got nominated for 11 Grammys.
Many of us know Batiste as Stephen Colbert’s sidekick and bandleader, but the talented musician has far more to offer.
He won an Oscar earlier this year, led Black Lives Matter protests, and is on his way to becoming one of the most successful musicians of our time.
Batiste shows us that being an activist for a good cause and bringing joy into people’s lives don’t exclude each other. He sang a song with Elmo on “Sesame Street,” celebrating unsung neighborhood heroes. But he is also the artistic co-director and creative director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, New York.
It’s about time for a documentary, but until then, we can watch “Soul.” Not only did Batiste win an Oscar for the soundtrack of this beautiful movie, it basically tells the story of his passion for music.
Being nominated for 11 Grammy Awards is just another highlight of his impressive career. I wish him all the best to take home as many awards as possible.
WOW!! Thank you God!! ???

As a musician, I admire him for his talent. As an advocate for social justice, I respect him for his activism. And, as a human, I appreciate his approach toward life.
When he was asked about finding life’s spark, he replied with these beautiful words:
“It’s found in the things that make us all unique, and there’s never going to be another person like you in the world, ever. You’re the only one. You’re one of a kind. And that’s beautiful.” ~ Jon Batiste
