How To Prepare For a Good Move-Out Cleaning?

Changing houses can be quite an emotional decision for a lot of people. For some, it can be completely commercial. No matter what you feel about moving houses, one of the most unskippable parts of the same is the move-out cleaning. If you are a tenant living in a rental home, this can be called end-of-lease cleaning or bond cleaning.  If you are the owner of the house or if you lived in it as a tenant, conducting a thorough move-out cleaning is necessary. For tenants, the proper end-of-lease cleaning helps in getting their bond money back. For the owners of the house, moving out cleaning increases the resale value of the house. So, if you are wondering how to prepare to move out, then here are some important tips to keep in mind:

  1. Pack all your belongings and clear out the room

This goes without saying, but before starting the moving-out cleaning of your house, complete the packing of your belongings. Make sure to cover all the furniture as well, so that they do not get water or cleaning agents on them during the process of cleaning. Once the space is vacant, that is when the cleaning process must start. Or else, there will be a lot of hindrances and the chances for things to fall and break are also high. All your boxes can be kept in a single room so that they are not scattered all over the place. Now, you have all the space to clean your heart out.

  1. Remove nails and clean the patches

If you lived as a tenant in the house and had decorated the walls by hanging pictures and other decor items on them, then it is time to remove the nails and clean the patches if any. You can use the necessary tools to fill up the holes in the wall, smoothen the surface out and repaint it if necessary. Or else, the holes in the wall would be quite a distraction and could lead to even the loss of your bond money. So make it a priority to check your walls for any fixtures and remove them.

  1. Repaint the house

If it has been a long time since you last painted the house or if the paint looks shabby and lifeless, it is high time that you give your house a repaint. Also, if you are a tenant and have changed the original color of the house, make sure to paint it back to the original color. You can seek the help of your landlord to get hold of the initial color of the paint as there are cases where there is a high chance of losing your bond money if the color of the paint is changed. Also, make sure to ask if such a change in color is an issue for your landlord.

  1. Dust the ceiling fans and clean the mirrors

Ceiling fans usually don’t fall on our line of sight and are usually left out from the daily cleaning routine. Because of this reason, they tend to be quite dirty and dusty by the time you leave the house. Make sure to thoroughly clean your ceiling fans as they might have accumulated a lot of dirt and dust over time. The same goes with mirrors and windows as well. Murky windows and mirrors can be offputting. You can use a newspaper to wipe down the mirrors and windows to get a streakless and completely clean finish.

  1. Clean the sinks, tubs, and toilets

If you are someone who routinely cleans the toilet and sink, this must not be such a big task for you to complete. Start with the bathroom sinks and then move on to the tubs. Clean the floors at the end and be careful not to trip and fall. If the tile and grout need special cleaning, allot a chunk of time to fully concentrate on the same. Cleaning grout, especially in the bathroom walls and floors, can be quite challenging as the process can be a bit tedious. You can also hire expert tile and grout cleaners to get things moving even faster.

  1. Sweep and vacuum the floors thoroughly

Last but never least, sweep, vacuum, and mop your floors. This step has been intentionally left till the end because if the floor is cleaned in the beginning, after the end of cleaning the whole house, tenants would have to do the entire floor cleaning once again. Now that there is nothing else left to clean, the floors will stay shiny after you vacuum and mop them. Make sure to clean the fur off of your carpets and couches if you have pets living along with you. The final cleaning touches can be made complete this way.House cleaning, especially end-of-lease cleaning, can be quite stressful and overwhelming for a lot of tenants. You can always seek the help of professional bond cleaners to help you with the same.
