Was it all a dream? Calgary Flames, the lucky recipient of our beloved Tyler, Cat & Dodger Toffoli on an 11 game winning streak. Clearly on their way to breaking a franchise record. Coach Sutter with a winning formula & guys buying into the plan. What could stop them? The worse thing anyone can do is get complacent. Underestimate their opponent, or worse yet, disrespect them.

They say timing is everything but I couldn’t have picked a worse time to suspend my cable. I admit it, that long stretch of gut-wrenching losses for the Canadiens was quite painful for HabsNation. I can just imagine how it felt in the locker room. Tonight’s game was a perfect example of those games we live for. The thrill of it all after unfailing loyalty. The reward of our steadfast resilience.

No quit in their game. No one holding back or waiting on their teammate to be pro-active. Each one pulling their weight for each other. Each one excelling & exceeding their personal bests. Are trading deadlines a factor? Are players newly energized by Coach MSL? It could be many things at play. But it is undeniably some of the most exciting hockey we have seen in awhile.

Not withstanding last year’s unexpected prolonged run at the Stanley cup finals. I have never seen a Canadiens team like this before. That fighting spirit and it seems a desire to want to please the coach. Coach MSL being a Hockey Hall Of Famer can’t hurt but it’s something else. A new approach. A keen hockey mind adding his own philosophy. Whatever he is doing it’s working.

HabsNation enjoys this moment during a perilous time in the world. The boys are enjoying this moment. Many of us having immediate or secondary connections to Ukraine or Russia. Worried about loved ones. We’re holding our collective breath for the end of atrocities & for the administration of the the Montreal Canadiens to sign Coach MSL long term. It’s not too much to ask is it…to fuel the eternal flame?
