Whether astrology is science or magic, we’re open to most things, if they may be of benefit. ~ Ed.

We have a problem with the intercom in our apartment.
It just so happens that we are temporarily renting a suite right by the front door of the building, so when anyone rings an apartment, we can hear the buzzing and then the person saying, “Hi, it’s so and so,” and the other person saying “Come on up!”
However, the intercom does not work in our suite. If I am expecting a parcel, I have to listen for the buzzing, then I run out and ask “Is that parcel for me?” Most often, it is not, and I sound as ridiculous as I feel.
I recently called for the buzzer to be repaired. The buzzer expert called me this morning. He asked me about the problem. I’ve been having difficulty finding words since Mercury Retrograde was in pre-shadow these last two weeks. I mean it’s been serious communication trouble.
I was able to mumble out a sentence, then trying to remember the words for phone jack I said…”The wall portal is not connected to the outside buzzer.”
The guy exploded into raucous laughter. “The portal,” he shouted into the phone, “The portal!”
I didn’t think it was that amusing. But we are in a portal of sorts.
My partner thinks that Mercury is retrograde every three weeks. He’s afraid of it. Sometimes I say it’s on when it’s not just to see his reaction. I know, it’s mean.
You may have already felt subtle or not-so-subtle shifts through the pre-shadow and wondered about the push and pull felt within.
What is it anyway?
“Retrograde motion is an apparent change in the movement of the planet through the sky. It is not real in that the planet does not physically start moving backward in its orbit. It just appears to do so because of the relative positions of the planet and Earth and how they are moving around the Sun. Normally, the planets move west-to-east through the stars at night. This is referred to as prograde motion. However, periodically the motion changes and they move east-to-west through the stars. We call this retrograde motion. The retrograde motion continues for a short time and then the motion switches back to prograde. This seemingly strange behavior is easily understood within the context of a Sun-centered (heliocentric) solar system. The explanation for retrograde motion in a heliocentric model is that retrograde occurs roughly when a faster-moving planet catches up to and passes a slower moving planet.” ~ StarChild/Nasa
On the witch’s path, we recognize that the cosmos is within us as much as it appears to be all around us. When the planets shift, we shift. Certain codes are awakened within our bones and consciousness—we take leaps in directions that have been waiting for our readiness.
In this way, we can understand Mercury’s path as our own path, and even welcome calm. This retrograde begins in Gemini—affecting our mind and moves into Taurus—settling in our body.
First, we tread through some issues involving communication, words, learning, and inter-connections. While things could get somewhat confusing, remember that Gemini wants to learn from others. Perhaps we can listen more now, and when we do communicate, speak from a desire to build stronger interconnections.
As the retrograde wanes, Taurus reminds us to use the resources we have at hand, to stay firmly in our bodies by staying present and being grateful for what we have. Money, relationships, authority, and personal attachments will be to the fore.
It can be difficult to practice presence at the best of times. Our lives are rather fast these days and it seems that many things call to our attention at once. Mercury Retrograde is like a gong that goes off to remind us to slow down. I’m thinking turtle speed here.
What is important to pay attention to and what can be set aside for now?
What existential or mundane lessons are presenting themselves during this period?
How can we communicate effectively, listen more deeply, be empathetic to?
When things go wrong, how can we practice connecting to the reasons why without overreacting?
Later this morning, some technology messed up and I did exactly what I just told you not to do. I overreacted. Yup, while I was typing this thing up. Look below at Scorpio.
Gemini, Taurus, Virgo, and Pisces are most affected but all signs will have to deal. If you’re making major life decisions, moving, signing contracts—don’t freak out, just be sure you have your eye on the deets. That’s what this is all about anyway.
Aries: Boundaries will keep you safe, but keep your heart trusting and open. Misunderstandings happen, it doesn’t mean it’s you against them. Count to ten before reacting.
Taurus: Self-worth and abundance come up for contemplation. If you’re prone to dissociation, this is a good time to practice staying in your body when wounds come up. Grounding meditations will work for you.
Gemini: Be your own best friend. Take your own advice to heart. You are wise and you can trust the answers you are mining from your own experience.
Cancer: Don’t take it personally, but honor your emotions. Don’t apologize for your tears. You have a right to self-expression and feeling deeply.
Leo: A mask or two may come off. You’re ready! You are having more fun as you let down the walls around your heart. You may be in for a period of shadow work, until the Summer Solstice.
Virgo: Pay attention to home and family, retain a sense of humor. You belong to yourself first, then to others. You actually can’t be too organized at this time, so go for it, employ your skills.
Libra: Some relationships no longer serve you. Let go with grace and kindness. Bask in some of the beauty that you usually bring to others. You deserve the sunshine too!
Scorpio: Stop it. Everything’s fine. Focus on gratitude and what’s going right. Remember to ask for help when you need it. You don’t have to carry all that alone.
Sagittarius: Others may not understand you, but stay on your path. Your visions are taking you where you need to go. On the other hand, when dispensing truth and insights, be mindful of gentleness.
Capricorn: Let go a little, and all will fall into place. This is when communication is most needed, even if it scares your little goat horns off. Steadfastness is on your side.
Aquarius: Limitations are more of an illusion than a reality. Onward. Make good plans, write them down. You are a powerful manifestor when you trust your instincts and put action behind your dreams.
Pisces: Attention to detail and well-chosen words will save the day. As sensitive as you’re feeling right now, see it as a positive. It will help to guide you in the direction you most need. Flow is your strength as long as you keep to the path you truly desire.
P.S. Full Moon and a Lunar Eclipse are coming up in three days, just as Mercury settles into its shenanigans. Just another way the Universe spends its time amusing itself at our expense.
