Fall is a time of change and transition. With the end of summer and the beginning of fall, many things are changing in our lives. Fall brings on a whole new set of challenges, like cold weather, shorter days, and more work-related stress. It’s important to take care of yourself this fall so that you can maintain your mental health during these transitional times.
1) Avoid spending too much time in front of screens
In these days of constant connectivity, we are addicted to screens. But it does not just work that keeps us glued to the screens for hours; the internet has made it easier for us to always be on. We’re losing out on our downtime and our creativity. Technology is making it too easy for us to be constantly connected and distracted from what really matters in life.
2) Take breaks from social media and our phones
Social media is often a source of stress, creating social comparisons and jealousy, causing anxiety and general unhappiness. We need to take frequent breaks from our screens to maintain mental health. Artificial intelligence can help us take regular breaks from social media by sending reminders to put our devices down and refocus on ourselves or other people.
3) Get outside and exercise to improve your energy
The benefits of outdoor exercise are numerous. When we exercise outside, we get air and sunlight which helps our body release more endorphins and serotonin, which in turn gives us more energy. It also improves our mood, brain function, and sleep quality.
4) Practice self-care rituals daily
Self-care is not a one-time event. It’s something that we do every day to increase our sense of well-being and rejuvenation. Whether we need to meditate, perform yoga, take a walk, or read a book, practicing self-care daily is the key to improving our mental health and wellness.
5) Stay hydrated by drinking lots of water
Drinking water is essential for staying healthy. Our bodies need water to maintain the proper balance of minerals, electrolytes, and fluids. Water also helps our body release waste and toxins, and flush out toxins from our system.
6) Relax at home watching television or taking a bath
Watching television is relaxing in and of itself. However, when we add a bath to the equation, we’ll be able to relax even more. A bath can relieve tension and help us lower our stress levels. Plus, it’s not just good for the body – a shower can also help clear our minds!
