On Finally Figuring out How to Live a Life Full of Purpose, Peace & Love.

42 years. That’s a long time.

That’s how long it took me to figure out some really important truths about myself and the world. In my 20s, I really thought I had things figured out. We all did, didn’t we? Boy, were we wrong. Better late than never, I say.

Some things I have learned about myself:

>> There is nobody else in the world quite like me and never will be

>> Other people’s opinions of me are none of my business

>> I am stronger and more resilient than I know

>> I am the only person responsible for my happiness

>> I have to love myself in order to love anyone else

>> I contribute to the world by sharing my thoughts, feelings, and experiences

>> I spread positivity by lifting others up and supporting them when they need it

My 40s have been some of the best years of my life. I have fully grown into my personality and finally learned how to love my body. When I was younger, I didn’t appreciate how strong my body was.

Here are a few things that have become increasingly important to me over the past few years:

>> Drinking lots of water

>> Eating sensibly but not denying my cravings

>> Getting at least seven hours of sleep every night (or as close as possible)

>> Moving my body every single day

>> Building muscle to help burn more fat

>> Listening to my body and taking a break, or a day off, when I need it

People are so busy and the world keeps moving so quickly. It’s really easy to forget what’s really important. I try to be as present in the moment as I can.

Here are some other truths I have learned along the way:

>> The best things in life aren’t things at all, but rather moments and experiences

>> People will always remember the way you made them feel

>> Hard times seem a little easier after a good meal and a long sleep

>> There is always something to be grateful for, even when it’s hard to remember what

>> Sunshine and fresh air can do wonders for you mentally, physically, and emotionally

>> We are all connected and there is a little bit of stardust in all of us

>> The universe will bring you what you need at the exact right time

>> Living with an open and honest heart, while scary, is very rewarding

>> The best way to grow as a person is to keep moving and keep changing

Alone, none of these things are very powerful. But, together, they can help you to live a life full of purpose, peace, and love.

They can help you to feel genuinely happy and fulfilled. They can help you to grow into the person you were meant to be. Isn’t that the goal, after all? To become the very best versions of ourselves? I like to think so.
