Autumn

An autumn wall,

From rains that fall,

Around my sunshine builds

To stifle and choke

Bright rays of growth;

Springs promise fulfilled

Jagged and bare,

Crisp biting air,

A dormant wind has blown.

A sea of white,

An endless night,

The land to its fullest has grown.

Just as the sun

Must always come

To let a new day dawn,

So must the trees

Release its leaves

To a distant sun withdrawn.

A perpetual transition

Life’s intricate decision:

Forward – never faltering,

To steal by night

Each new day’s light;

Onward, never halting.
