I fear we have forgotten how to be together.
Isolated in our boxes.
Trying so hard to be unique individuals.
Isolated in our boxes.
We have forgotten we were created to be in a herd, a village, a clan, a tribe.
Working towards a collective goal that benefits all the tribe, herd, clan, and village.
Instead, we choose to be outside the herd.
Separate from the village.
Wait what village?
They are no more.
We wiped them out to build an empire of selfish ambition.
Living in the herd meant strength in numbers.
It meant right relationship with all connections.
Connected to one another’s intuition and survival instincts.
Without them we are a vulnerable and sad people.
People driven by individualism, wealth acquirement and instant gratification.
When we live in the herd we live in harmony with one another and with nature.
We listen to our instincts; spiritual, physical, mental, emotional all parts function as a whole.
Thriving in oneness with all others.
Relying on each other.
The division is great in the world right now.
Division, disconnection and sadness.
All symptoms of forgetting the herd mentality.
I believe to be human is to have the innate ability to converge our energy with the animal kingdom, to learn from them.
To live with dogs is to converge with an animal and look out for them as they look out for you.
It is to share resources, it is to connect on an energetic, loving and spiritual, level.
With another species.
It’s one of the great joys in life.
I am afraid we have forgotten how to do it with our own species.
The horse can re-teach us though if we’d only listen.
Being in the presence of a herd of horses is like no other experience.
Sacred dogs, some call them.
A sacred herd.
Wild and free.
Allowing humans to connect and integrate into the herd.
But only if you handle your internal warfare.
Only if you show up without superior expectation or ego.
See, the horse is a no bullshit animal.
They don’t need the attention and affection like a dog.
They are happy living in their herd as a wild mystery, untouched by humans.
See but they choose and allow the connection to be made.
Humans even have the innate ability to bring out curiosity and reciprocal affection from the horse.
Characteristics only shown in deep trusted bands and herds.
Only if you do the work.
The internal work.
The integrating.
The un-learning and the re-learning.
You must first show yourself curiosity and unconditional love.
Quieting the noise of doubt, fear and isolation.
Opening yourself to be vulnerable and seen.
For when the horse is in the presence of a human that is at peace within themselves.
They feel safe.
When they sense the awe we have for nature and the human experience.
They know they are safe.
In the presence of one who remembers the herd mentality.
A knowing that the herd mentality is meant for them as well.
They light up.
As a horse trainer this has been a hard state to continuously be in.
As a trainer there is a job to be done.
But what if the job was just to care for yourself and your herd with unhinged curiosity and love.
Admiration for the magical being that the horse is.
What if there were no timelines anymore.
No expectations.
Creating an environment where it takes as long as it takes.
This journey this process of integrating back into herd life.
It will take as long as it takes.
In the same way it takes whatever it takes to wake us up from our destructive patterns.
Mother nature is not going to be patient forever.
If she does not see the change of heart back to herd mentality and connection soon,
She will take necessary steps to purify and reset herself.
A shift in collective thinking is taking place.
We are in unprecedented times.
People see the need to come together and build a new way of life.
A way of creating food sustainability and resource sharing.
I am thrilled to see so many people coming together and building farms.
Building local small business together.
Educating themselves in things that bring them not only resources but passion and fulfillment.
If we study, learn, and listen to the horse.
We will re-learn the things necessary to evolve heal and restore the hearts of the people, the land and our connection.
The dynamics of the herd are central around a lead mare.
This is a call to all lead mares out there.
There is a herd out there that needs you to step back into your full role as leader.
And lead like a mare.
