Walk the Talk Show with Waylon Lewis presents:
In our latest, greatest Walk the Talk Show with Waylon Lewis, Waylon talks with Francesca Perotti. They discuss how to get through really, really tough time times and feeling comfortable with our loneliness when it comes up.
“It’s easy to get lost in the darkness, and get lost in victimhood…to not taking responsibility. If you’re moving through darkness, if you’re moving through something really hard, then hopefully you are surrounded by people who can help you see that there’s light at the end of the tunnel and that this is actually happening for you, not to you.” ~ Francesca Perotti
Or, listen to the podcast:
“We tend to hide ourselves behind the things that we do: our products, our services, our relationships—our everything.
But who are you beyond all of that? Your identity has been attached to so many different things that you’ve missed actually getting to know yourself in peace and quiet. So who are you? And it’s scary because that’s where you invite yourself into the darkness.
Because when you become quiet, then alllll the things come up to the surface. All your fears, all your wounds, all your unworthiness and securities. The reasons you attach your identity to these people or these experiences in the first place. That’s why it’s so scary, and that’s why we feel so uncomfortable going through the darkness—because it’s showing us sides of ourselves that we weren’t willing to see before.
It’s such a beautiful process going into our darkness.
But of course it’s scary and we feel so lonely. But that is another point. It’s important to feel lonely so you don’t hide behind anybody else. So you’re like, ‘Oh, oh, this is me. Oh, okay. Am I comfortable being with myself?’ and moving through that discomfort because that’s actually helping you grow.” ~ Francesca Perotti
“The darkness is there for you to see your light. When it becomes even darker, then it’s easier to see a brighter light.” ~ Francesca Perotti
“I always say to my clients, trust and surrender. Trust and surrender. You really need to trust. Our minds are not going to be able to understand what we’re going through. They’re trying to make mathematical equations out of something that really doesn’t fit into that category. It’s really all about, ‘Okay, life is offering me this present moment. How can I trust it without needing to understand the why or the when or the how?’
How can I just surrender to it? Surrender to the beating of the waves, to the beating of the winds, to the currents, and you’ll come out.
Don’t get stuck there. Don’t try to hold onto something because that’s gonna make it more painful.” ~ Francesca Perotti

A note from Waylon:
Big news about my podcast, new YouTube channel.
Our podcast and video series are trying to start up again, with Molly’s help! Help support them by viewing, listening, sharing—we’ve received many requests over the last years for mindful tips and conversations and the podcast to return. Boom! I’m once again doing a convo/video/podcast once a week. Hope you give it a listen.
I’m leaving behind Elephant’s 35,000 subscribers (Google never let us monetize) and many millions of views—and I hope you’ll subscribe to my new channel here: I’ll upload at least one video a week about everyday mindfulness and eco and meditation and relationships and food and equality and politics from a non-hateful perspective, and all that good stuff.
So, anyways, starting a new account. Subscribe! Support! Share! All the things. May it be of benefit! Be one of my first and comment if you do so.
