Goat Story Number 3

It was finally summer and a Sunday so we didn’t know what to do. I was heading back to the house after doing the morning chores when all of a sudden the three goats saw me and were ready for a chase. My Dad had always warned us when the goats were babies, “Don’t let them chase you or they will grow up and think it is a game.” We never listened…

I was ready for the chase too–being that I was pretty fast after being chased all the time by my older, swifter sister. I began to run around and around the house as they baaaed behind me getting closer and closer. I kept yelling for help but everybody else was busy. My sister Suze had finished her chores first so she was already inside, my older brother Sam was hanging with his friends and my Dad was still doing more turkey chores by himself. Mom was at her new place in Rockport. I had already been bucked by Rambo, our Nigerian goat and saw Sammy buck my sister in the stomach so I was not about to let this happen to me again or at all. I ran and ran around the house and imagined it must have looked pretty funny.

Finally as I got a little headway I knew I had just enough time to open the door without being bucked so that’s just what I did. I paused, unclicked the latch and slammed the door behind me. Only to be immediately startled by the three slams as each goat hit the door right behind me. “Phew” I thought, “That was close! Man am I brave. And Lucky!”
