A Letter to My Daughters.

The two of you are the greatest loves of my life. The two halves of my heart. My greatest accomplishments. My biggest joys.

But you are both a real pain in my ass. You waste my perfume, use all my hair products, and never replace the toilet paper roll. However, these things aside, you’re still my two favorite people in the whole world.

I always assumed that the longer I was a mom, the easier it would become and the more I would know. That could not be further from the truth. After being a mom for nearly 17 years, I still don’t know what I’m doing. So, please have patience with me on the days when I’m not at my best. Please give me a little grace and remember that I’m just a person.

The few things that I do know for sure are that:

>> I would do anything to make you laugh and bring a smile to your face.

>> I will do everything in my power to give you a happy life.

>> Even though you make me mad sometimes, I still love you every single day, no matter what.

>> On the days when everything sucks and you hate the world, I will be there.

>> You can talk to me about anything, without judgement.

>> I will be your biggest supporter and cheerleader.

>> I only want the very best for you.

>> Even though you think I’m old and lame, I still know more than you about life and love.

>> That boy will never deserve you.

>> When you get your heart broken, I promise that it will heal.

>> Whenever you need my help or advice, I will be there.

I’m sure that halfway through this list, you were both rolling your eyes. That’s okay, I was expecting that.

What I really want to say is that nobody will ever love you as fiercely and completely as I love you. Being your mom has been the best adventure of my life. I love you both endlessly.

Now go do your homework and wash the dishes!
